Of vision I had
Only dimishing returns.
Yet, I see your smile.

Gone, the cry of the nurtured

of minds led by divine grace.

Gone, the enlightened process of reason

the functions twisted by acquisition.

Gone, the free-spirited souls

fluttering under the canopied rooftops.

Gone, the righteous champions of the spotlight

crashing down to lay with the mortals.

All that remains; a footprint in the sand

Washed away by the rising tide.

The door.

In timeless breaths

it bites, gnaws at my soul.

Hammering at the door.

“Where is your master!”

Bellowing whilst he crawls

None withstanding, crashing upon the door.

“The master is I, and I master none!”

Shouting, raving to a score

Silent reply and silence heard only by the door.

Yet, Still I lay a-waiting

Forever abound by this droll

Crashing and rasping upon the door.

Diceman Sayeth #9

Humanity, since it first figured out how to figure things out, has been enveloped in an endless search for the truth.

Its a pretty difficult thing to grasp once you’ve thought about it.

If you were to attempt to define it… it would probably start like this…

“Truth: that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.” (Google)

Even the smart fellows at google use the word “true” when defining “truth”. There is not really a good way to define it is there?
The main difficulty (and endless nature) of the pursuit of truth is thus, the more one thinks about it, the harder it is to define.

Definitions and “truth” is a construction of the thinking human. An animals, (lets say a duck’s) definition of truth is thus “I exist and what I do is truth”. There being no facts or fictions, no perspectives to consider, no lies or dishonesty for the duck means that it’s truth is defined by its existence. Perception of reality can define truth in a way, BUT…

Humans, however, like to make things difficult.

Lets re-look a that definition from google and break it down a bit, and I pose questions for your own thoughts only.

“That which is true”

  • How do we know its true?
  • Who’s truth is it?
  • How long is it the true for?

“in accordance with fact”

  • Solid facts can eventually be proven false. Whilst a fact may indeed by truth today, tomorrow it may become just another “alternative theory”. The whole pursuit of truth from multiple methodology’s is to seek to find the truth of even well established facts. It was once fact that there were nine planets in the solar system. Then this was proven incorrect.
  • Does this fact exist only because of ignorance to the truth. Are the two really connected?

“In accordance with… reality”

  • Reality, is but the perception gained from utilizing our senses to interpret the world around us. My reality is that I can see the 7 colors of the rainbow, a color blind person see’s less, an machine can see more (ultra violet or what-have you). If truth is bound by reality, and my reality is restricted by my perception of it, how do I know whats true?
  • What is we are all just brains in a jar? (Not my belief, but definitely look up that theory, its at least a good read)

So what does this all mean?

Shall we continue to pursue truth, to uncover the facts, to broaden our horizons and gain further insight into the workings of the world?

This diceman hopes so.

Stay savvy

We are always running; chanting at the boards, they dance and dip to the beats of an unseen drum “Johnson’s up five” and “Bakers down”, to react is to work, breath, live; all day chasing the dream, my fellows doing the same, how can it be a dream if all we do is follow?, “gold is the new thing” we all run for the books “Hilton Co surges nine points: a rush to the other desk to BUY BUY BUY as a man is engulfed by the crowd, another unnoticed fallen while the market still flies; “oil dropping” a fellow shouts as the screens flicker and glow, the mad rush envelops me and rushing for the phones again — it doesn’t matter, you get paid the same either way — my boss shouts “SELL SELL SELL!” as the bulge of his eye pops out, stress building as the misty lens of profit consumes us all —stay calm and don’t forget why your here — the adrenaline rush as the room erupts with “SELL” and the clock chimes, ticks and moves rapidly.

Yet it stands still. The same task endlessly repeated. Freddy turns 5 today go see him.

The board flickers as the stocks drop and rise with the pulse of a living thing, a living thing that has consumed and broken everything, but still we all crave it, and come back to it, only to wash away every other thought so truly live in the moment —why not just go?— with that the time flies by and everything catches up.

I grab my things. The work day finished. Go to my car. As the tears fall. I make it home. The house is empty. Child welfare has called. Freddy turns five today. All I can do. Is keep him well.
